About Raquel Aedo
Raquel Aedo is a Mexican stand-up comedian, screenwriter, radio host and guitarist who has worked in film, theatre and television for about twenty years. She currently writes for Lemon Studios and has worked for Canal 5, Canal 2, Univision, Derbez TV and Comedy Central.
Her work blends comedy with drama and focuses on LGBT activism, particularly the rights of the trans community, approaching social reality through sharp, pop-culture-infused satire. In her touring solo show Siempre Incendiaria, she narrates her own gender transition from a personal perspective, mixing stand-up, protest music and theatrical monologue to describe her life before transition, the physical and psychological changes she underwent, and how the people around her responded.
Aedo also hosts the podcast Rache Against the Machin, which discusses diversity, gender identity and life as a trans comedian in Mexico.
