About Tío Rober
Tío Rober, born Roberto Andrade Cerón on September 20, 1979, in the State of Mexico, is a Mexican stand-up comedian and filmmaker. A graduate of the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in screenwriting, he debuted as a playwright in 2006 with 'Algo Sencillo' at the Teatro La Capilla. In 2012 he began performing stand-up and co-founded the comedy collective 'Chisgare' with fellow comedians El Cojo Feliz and El Chaparro Salazar, together delivering close to 200 shows across Mexican cities and abroad. He has since toured as a solo headliner, with ticketed stand-up dates in cities including Saltillo, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Guadalajara, Pachuca and Ecatepec. He co-hosts, with El Cojo Feliz, 'La Hora Feliz,' described as Mexico's longest-running comedy podcast. He directs the Centro Cultural Woody Allen, where he teaches more than 100 courses, and has worked as a television writer on programs including 'El Almohadazo' and the sitcom 'Burócratas.'
In March 2022 a years-old clip from his podcast, in which Andrade recounted a sexual encounter with a woman he said had passed out, circulated online and drew public backlash; the woman involved, his former partner of eight years, said the audio had been edited out of context and told Mexico City prosecutors she was not a victim of abuse. Separately, another woman publicly accused him on social media of sexually abusing her during a 2019 relationship that began when she was 19 and he was 39; Andrade denied the accusation, described the relationship as consensual and said he would pursue legal action against her. The allegations led organizers to cancel a scheduled Tío Rober and El Cojo Feliz appearance at the Vive Latino festival.
