About Carlos Galdós

Carlos Enrique Galdós Irribarren (born in Lima on September 10, 1974) is a Peruvian stand-up comedian, television presenter and radio broadcaster. He is the son of Alfredo Wáshington Galdós Jiménez, a former worker at the Banco Wiesse and later an office clerk (who died in 2023), and Elena Irribarren Salas Cornejo, a Social Security worker born in Arequipa. Coming from a working-class family, he lived with his mother on calle Manco Segundo, in the Lince district, since at some point in his childhood his father had left the home, an event that marked his life forever. He began as a radio broadcaster, on the program Llamadas de medianoche, on Radio del Pacífico, and then debuted on TV as a co-host on the youth space Oki doki, at the age of twenty-one, in October 1995.

From late 2000 until 2017 he hosted the space previously called Caídos del catre, which later became Galdós en Studio 92, on radio Studio 92. In 2003 he was a presenter and reporter for two years on the space Polizontes, on Movistar Plus, and in 2006 he briefly hosted Otra maldita noche on Panamericana Televisión. Galdós was part of the jury of the reality program Perú tiene talento between 2012 and 2014, broadcast by Frecuencia Latina, and that same year presented his book Mundo Galdós. From January 2013 until early 2018 he took over the hosting of the late-night program La noche es mía on Latina. On November 28, 2018, Galdós was expelled from the editorial group of El Comercio due to his sexist statements against Keiko Fujimori. From his reflections on his Fujimori column he premiered his solo show 2 horas para ser feliz. In 2024 he joined RPP to host a new morning program.

As a comedian he has presented several solo shows that have made him known, including Soy del Perú, señor (2003), Nadie nos comprende (2004), El amor en los tiempos de Galdós (2005, 2007 and 2022), Yo también puedo ser presidente (2006 and 2022), Papá... ¿Yo? (2007), Solo para mujeres (2007), Solo para mujeres 2 (2008), Yo amo a mi suegra (2008), Nadie me quita lo bailado (2009), Yo también odio a Carlos Galdós (2010), Carlos Galdós en vivo (2011), Galdós 10 años (2012), Cholo power (2013), Galdós va a terapia (2020), Jodidos, pero contentos (2020), Hagamos que nos pasen cosas bonitas (2020 and 2021), Galdós 20 años (2021) and Madre solo hay una... menos mal (2023).
