Thenjiwe Moseley

Thenjiwe Moseley, born Thenjiwe Maphumulo on 29 September 1977 in KwaMashu, Durban, is a South African comedian, actress and entrepreneur widely referred to as the "Queen of African Comedy." Raised by her grandparents, she earned a Performing Arts degree from Natal Technical College, now Durban University of Technology, in 1998, then moved to the United Kingdom, where she lived for about 12 years and qualified in law, receiving a diploma from the University of London in 2006 and a Bachelor of Laws from London Metropolitan University in 2009.

Moseley's move into comedy came in 2013, when colleagues from her legal job dared her to perform a five-minute set at a London comedy night; a talent scout in the audience helped launch her comedy career, and she was a finalist for a Funny Women Award that same year. After joining YouTube in February 2015, her comedy sketches brought her wider fame, and she went on to create and star in two South African sitcoms, "Judge Thenjiwe Khambule" and "Meet the Khambules," broadcast on Moja Love. She has released several comedy specials and toured internationally, including in Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Australia, and across Europe and North America. In July 2025 she returned to Durban for a homecoming comedy show.
