About Axlor Riezu

Axlor Riezu is a Spanish stand-up comedian born in Bilbao. His first name comes from a cave in the town of Dima and was given to him by his father, a speleologist. As a child he trained in acting, and before turning to comedy he worked professionally as a magician, including as an assistant to the Argentine magician Mirko, before returning to Bilbao to perform solo magic shows. He gradually realised audiences responded more to his patter than to the tricks themselves and shifted into stand-up, becoming the first Basque comedian to reach El Club de la Comedia by a direct route. He has worked as a television collaborator on the Basque programme Y Punto, on Telecinco and Cuatro's Sentido Común, and on El Club de la Comedia for laSexta and Netflix, as well as contributing to the Europa FM radio show Vamos Tarde. For six years he held a solo residency at Madrid's La Chocita del Loro on Gran Vía with his show Tengo FOMO, material drawing on his two marriages and his parallel career as an emergency medical technician with SAMUR. He has continued performing nationally, including two hander bills with fellow comedian Fernando García-Torres.
