About Esther Gimeno
Esther Gimeno Gascon is a Spanish actress, comedian, screenwriter and presenter born in Zaragoza on 28 September 1975, who trained as an engineer at Madrid's Polytechnic University before turning to comedy. One of the first women on Spain's stand-up scene, she has worked as a monologuist since 2004 as part of the generation that emerged from Paramount Comedy's "Nuevos Comicos" programme, performing nationally and recording monologos for Movistar, Comedy Central, Aragon TV, FDF and Colombia's Caracol TV, describing her comedic approach as "protest humour". Her solo stage work includes the 2014 show "Chochos, el musical", which combines comedy and opera to spotlight women overlooked by history, followed by the solo monologos "¡Arrepentios!" (2021), addressing ageism, cosmetic surgery, meritocracy and capitalism, and "Estoy bien" (2023), built around everyday situations including life in Madrid and childhood memories.
