About Félix Extremeño Prieto
Félix el Gato, born Félix Extremeño Prieto in the Madrid neighbourhood of Las Ventas and later settled in Getafe, learned the trade as an amateur in the 1980s. His first room was the Rincón del Arte Nuevo in Madrid, where the bill could include Faemino y Cansado, Pedro Reyes and Mariano Mariano; from there he moved to Sambrasil and then out on the road across Spain.
Television turned a club comic into a familiar face. The programme that fixed his place was Tutti Fruti on Tele 5, and he went on to work as a solo act for TVE, Antena 3, Telemadrid and TVG. Those years put him on the same stages as stars such as Sara Montiel, Celia Cruz, Alberto Cortez, Rocío Jurado and Carmen Sevilla. Off screen he lent his humour to the first festival of hospital laughter therapy, sharing that programme with Mari Carmen y sus muñecos.
