About Iggy Rubín
Ignacio Antonio Rubín Grassa (born in Madrid on November 16, 1984), better known as Iggy Rubín, is a Spanish radio host, scriptwriter, humorist and actor. He began his professional path at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Agrónomos at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, although he was clear that this was not his vocation. While at university he joined the theater club, and in 2009 he won the university monologue contest. Thanks to this he gave his first performance in a bar and prepared the recording that would earn him a place at Paramount Comedy, where he recorded five monologues for Central de Cómicos, later touring the monologue circuit across Spain from bar to bar.
In 2013 he took part in the documentary about Pepón Fuentes, Pepón es guay. He has appeared as a guest on the television programs La resistencia and Ilustres ignorantes, and took part in the Emmy-nominated series El fin de la comedia, playing himself as a friend of the protagonist. He has worked as a scriptwriter on films such as El último grito and on television programs such as Peliculeros, Late motiv and El hormiguero. He worked as co-host on the radio program Comedia perpetua (previously Phi Beta Lambda) on the national station Cadena SER for two seasons, and was second host with Dani Mateo on YU:No te pierdas nada, on Los 40, until September 2019. In September 2020 he began working as a scriptwriter on the program La resistencia on #0, and from August 2021 until the end of the 2023 season he presented, alongside Eva Soriano, the morning program Cuerpos especiales on Europa FM.
In the broadcast of Friday, April 5, 2019, of the television program La resistencia, he performed a humorous monologue. In it, several comments about ETA and especially about one of its victims, José Antonio Ortega Lara, provoked a strong controversy. Three days after its broadcast on Movistar+, it was removed by Movistar from all its official channels due to a complaint by Okdiario, and he then apologized across his social media. The program's host, David Broncano, expressed his support both for the company and for his fellow professional.
