José Luis Coll

José Luis Coll was a Spanish actor, humorist and writer born in Cuenca. With Luis Sánchez Polack he formed the comedy duo Tip y Coll, which was active from 1967 to 1995 with humour that was often absurd and surreal. The pair became popular through theatre and television, and are remembered for sketches in which Tip acts as an interpreter, translating into deliberately badly pronounced French.

On his own, Coll worked as a scriptwriter for TVE programmes such as La tortuga perezosa and, with Pedro Ruiz, on the programmes Como Pedro por su casa and Esta noche, Pedro. He also wrote humorous books, among them El diccionario de Coll.
