About Juan Aroca
Juan Aroca is a Spanish stand-up comedian and actor born in Seville in 1968. He trained in dramatic art at the Instituto del Teatro de Sevilla, graduating in 1994, and began working in theatre in 2000 before moving into stand-up comedy in 2005. He won first prize in Cadena SER's Hoy por Hoy Madrid monologue competition and recorded several routines for Paramount Comedy. Aroca became a resident comedian at Madrid's La Chocita del Loro, the country's best known monologue theatre, where his solo shows have included Mójate Conmigo and Aguántame el Cubata, a routine about Spanish popular festivals, as well as Me Cago en el WhatsApp, about relationships in the internet era. He has also appeared as an actor in Spanish television series such as Aquí no hay quien viva, Hospital Central and Águila Roja. Alongside his club work he has performed on Las Noches del Club de la Comedia and on Spanish television specials, and his comedy is known for a direct, fast paced style built around strong crowd interaction and improvisation.
