About Artie Lange
Arthur Steven Lange Jr. (born October 11, 1967) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and radio personality, best known for his work on Mad TV (1995-1997) and The Howard Stern Show (2001-2009). Raised in New Jersey, he worked as a longshoreman and taxi driver to support his family after his father was paralyzed in a fall, debuted as a stand-up at The Improv in 1987, and began performing full-time five years later on the New York City club circuit. In 1995 he moved to Los Angeles to join Mad TV, but his arrest for cocaine possession during the second season led to his departure and rehabilitation. He published the number-one New York Times bestseller Too Fat to Fish (2008) and the books Crash and Burn (2013) and Wanna Bet? (2018), and appeared in the HBO series Crashing. He cited Richard Pryor, Richard Lewis, and George Carlin as early influences.
