About Dan Soder
Dan Soder (born Daniel Edward-Richard Soder on June 24, 1983) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, podcaster and former radio personality. He initially came to prominence playing the character Mafee on the Showtime drama series Billions, as the former co-host of The Bonfire with fellow comedian Big Jay Oakerson on SiriusXM from 2015 to 2023, and through his frequent appearances on Guy Code. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, and of Irish and Swedish descent, he was raised in Aurora, Colorado, attended Smoky Hill High School, and became close friends with future Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel while growing up.
Soder began performing stand-up while a student at the University of Arizona, graduating in 2005 with degrees in journalism and political science, then moved to New York City a year later to pursue his career. He has appeared on Comedy Central's The Half Hour, Conan, MTV2's Guy Code and Guy Court, and Fox Sports 1's Garbage Time with Katie Nolan, among others. On July 27, 2015, he and Big Jay Oakerson began their two-hour live radio talk show The Bonfire on SiriusXM, which he left in February 2023 to be replaced by Robert Kelly. He later launched his own podcast, Soder, in November 2023, and in 2024 started The Regz with Luis J. Gomez, Joe List and Robert Kelly.
On screen, Soder appeared as a guest star on Inside Amy Schumer beginning in 2014 and had a minor role in the film Trainwreck (2015). He took a recurring role on Billions and released his first hour-long Comedy Central special, Not Special, before being cast in the comedy Drunk Parents (2019) and appearing in the Showtime comedy series Flatbush Misdemeanors in 2022. In July 2017 he featured on the final episode of the first season of Netflix's series The Standups with a 30-minute set. A lifelong wrestling fan, he is known for his impression of "Macho Man" Randy Savage. In December 2022, sports personality Katie Nolan announced her engagement to Soder.
