About Drew Lynch
Andrew "Drew" Lynch (born August 10, 1991) is an American stand-up comedian. He is known for his 2015 performances on America's Got Talent, where he finished in second place in the 10th season finale, for his long-running YouTube series Dog Vlog, and for the quick-witted crowd work that often constitutes a substantial portion of his on-stage performances. Major themes of his work include his relationships, his stature, his willingness to say taboo things, and his occasional stutter.
Lynch was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, the eldest of three children. His family moved to Las Vegas when he was nine, and determined to be an actor, he enrolled at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts. In 2008 he played Joseph Merrick in the Bernard Pomerance play The Elephant Man at the academy's Lowden Theater. After graduating high school, he moved to Los Angeles at 19, aspiring to dramatic and leading man roles.
In 2011, when he was 20, Lynch was working as a ticket taker at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank when an accident during a rec league softball game changed his life: a hard-hit ball struck him in the throat and he was diagnosed with a resulting neurogenic stutter. After his agent dropped him, he discovered stand-up while rehabbing, writing his angry thoughts on napkins and turning some into punchlines. To help manage his condition, he found an emotional support dog, a Vizsla named Stella.
