Jason Cheny

Jason Cheny is a Taiwanese American stand-up comedian based in Los Angeles. Born in Taiwan, he moved to the United States as a child, an upbringing he describes as being "re-raised" in America, with time also spent in Canada and at a military school. He is a regular performer at clubs including the Hollywood Improv and the Comedy Cellar, and has been named one of Forbes' Top AAPI Comedians to Watch. In 2017 he won the main event of the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas. His comedy focuses on cultural identity, family dynamics and life as an immigrant, and he built a wider following through viral clips on TikTok. In 2023 he released the YouTube special "Asian Not Asian," a 45 minute set exploring his dual identity and military school years. His debut comedy album, "Growing Pains," reached number one on the iTunes comedy chart. Cheny regularly tours Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China, and has appeared on the Fox and Hulu series "Laughs." A half hour special produced by Kevin Hart's Hartbeat is scheduled to premiere on Hulu in January 2027.
