About John Heffron
John Heffron (born July 19, 1970) is an American stand-up comic. He was born in New York City and raised in South Lyon, Michigan, graduating from South Lyon High School in 1988 and from Eastern Michigan University in 1993. He started his comedy career as a student at Eastern Michigan University, skipping night classes to perform stand-up, and got his first gig as an emcee at the Main Street Comedy Showcase on the University of Michigan campus. After graduating he toured the college circuit, performing more than 80 shows each year, and recorded his first comedy CD, Kid With A Cape.
By the age of 25, Heffron was a successful headlining comedian who put his degrees in communications and psychology to work as a radio sidekick to Danny Bonaduce (later replaced by Steve Cochran) on the highly rated Q95-5 Detroit morning show, working in Detroit for five years before relocating to Los Angeles. His television appearances include NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, CBS's The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, two Comedy Central Presents specials, and two seasons of Last Comic Standing, winning the title in season 2. He has also performed at the Just For Laughs festivals in Montreal and Bermuda and at the HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen.
An entrepreneur as well, Heffron, along with partner Joel Zimmer, released a board game called That Guy Game, which Entrepreneur magazine featured in its 2001 "Hot 100" issue. He was also a regular on VH1 series including My Coolest Years: My First Time and I Love The 80s, and toured with Charlie Murphy and Joe Rogan on the Real Men of Comedy tour in the fall of 2006. His DVD Middle Class Funny was released in 2009, and he continues to tour the United States performing stand-up.
