About Whitney Cummings
Whitney Cummings (born September 4, 1982) is an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, director, and podcaster. After graduating magna cum laude from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania in 2004 with a degree in Communications, she moved to Los Angeles, initially aspiring to a career as a journalist. She co-created the sitcom 2 Broke Girls and starred in and produced the sitcom Whitney, and directed the comedy film The Female Brain (2017).
Cummings began performing stand-up comedy in 2004 and was named one of "10 Comics to Watch" by Variety in 2007. She worked on MTV's Punk'd, starred in the low-budget thriller EMR, which screened at Cannes, and appeared in the 2008 romantic comedy Made of Honor. From 2007 she was a regular roundtable guest on E!'s Chelsea Lately until its conclusion in 2014, and she appeared as a roaster in the Comedy Central Roasts of Joan Rivers (2009), David Hasselhoff (2010), and Donald Trump (2011). Her first one-hour special, Whitney Cummings: Money Shot, premiered on Comedy Central in August 2010.
In 2011, two sitcoms she created were picked up by broadcast networks: 2 Broke Girls, which she co-created and executive produced with Michael Patrick King, and Whitney, in which she portrayed a semi-fictionalized version of herself. She released the special I Love You on Comedy Central in 2014 and I'm Your Girlfriend on HBO in 2016, had a supporting role in the thriller Unforgettable (2017), and published her first book, I'm Fine...And Other Lies, a collection of personal stories, in 2017.
