Comedians born in Santa Maria Capua Vetere
Italy ๐ฎ๐น
The modern town of Santa Maria Capua Vetere grew up on the ruins of ancient Capua, once counted among the greatest of Roman cities, on fertile land just north of Naples in what is today Caserta province. Its amphitheatre, exceeded in scale only by Rome's Colosseum, is remembered for the revolt of enslaved gladiators that Spartacus led from this ground.
Carrying that classical weight, this lively southern city shares in the wider Naples area's deep tradition of comic theatre and live shows, and it produced comedian Francesco Matano.
