About Wil Anderson
Wil Anderson, born William James Anderson on 31 January 1974, is an Australian comedian, writer, presenter, and podcaster. He was born in Sale, Victoria, and grew up on a dairy farm near Heyfield, attending Gippsland Grammar School in Sale before studying newspaper journalism at the University of Canberra, where he graduated top of his class in 1995. While his television and radio career has made him a recognised figure in Australia, standup comedy remains his foremost discipline.
Anderson started his career in newspaper journalism before venturing into stand-up, making numerous early appearances on Good News Week. From 2000 to 2004 he co-hosted the triple j breakfast radio show with Adam Spencer, and between 2001 and 2006 he hosted the comedy talk show The Glass House on ABC alongside Corinne Grant and Dave Hughes. In May 2008 he became executive producer and host of The Gruen Transfer, a panel show about advertising that debuted with a record-breaking audience of 1.287 million viewers, the highest-rating debut entertainment program in ABC history. He began hosting Question Everything on ABC in 2021 and was a contestant on the second season of Taskmaster Australia in 2024.
Anderson has performed at numerous festivals, including Just For Laughs in Montreal, and for over a decade has opened every live show with the riff from "Back In Black" as a tribute to his late friend, comedian Dave Grant. He has created a number of podcasts, including TOFOP with actor Charlie Clausen, which debuted in 2010 and rose to become the most popular comedy podcast in Australia, the spin-off FOFOP launched in 2013, and Wilosophy, launched in December 2014, in which he interviews guests about their life philosophies.
