Edmilson Filho

Edmilson Filho (born in Fortaleza, Ceará, on 21 September 1976) is a Brazilian comedian and actor of cinema and theater. He is the 3rd child in a family of 4 and the only man, with 3 sisters. He began in martial arts at age 12, with Kung Fu, and after watching a martial arts and Taekwondo demonstration at the Náutico Clube, he started practicing Taekwondo. He traveled through more than 15 countries competing, and took part in the Copa Brasil championship of 97, the Brazilian bi-championship of 98/99, and was a member of the Seleção Brasileira in 1999 and 2000. He is currently a 5th degree master of Taekwondo.

Still involved with martial arts, Edmilson began his career as a stand-up comedian at 17 years old in Fortaleza, the city where he was born. He met Halder Gomes during adolescence and, at his invitation, took part in the short film O Astista contra o cabra do mal, which would later be adapted into a feature film known simply as Cine Holliúdy. With the feature Cine Holliúdy, Edmilson won awards such as the "Prêmio Quem 2013 de melhor ator". In theater, Edmilson had more than 300 appearances in plays from 1993 until 2002, and then spent some time without doing theater.

Having lived in the United States and observed the cultural differences between Brazilians and Americans, he had the idea to create a play together with Halder Gomes, Made In Ceará, which he has staged since 2013, along with the new show Notas - Uma Comédia de Relacionamentos. In 2015 he acted in the first episode of the series Os Experientes and starred in the three seasons of the web series Tome Prumo. In 2018 he returned to the role of Francis in cinemas with the sequel Cine Holliúdy 2: A Chibata Sideral and on TV, starring alongside Letícia Colin in Cine Holliúdy, now as a series shown by Rede Globo. In 2024 he had a double role in the film Férias Trocadas, as two men named José Eduardo.
