About Stéphane Rousseau

Stéphane Rousseau was born in LaSalle, now part of Montreal, and made his first appearance at the Festival Juste pour rire in 1988 after years of touring Quebec bars with Roméo Pérusse. Radio gave him his first wide audience: he co-hosted Good Morning Québec on CHIK-FM, then moved to CKMF-FM, where Les Deux pistons made him the station's star presenter.

His first solo show, Rousseau, opened in 1992 and was followed by Drôle de Stéphane Rousseau and Stéphane Rousseau vous fait l'humour. The latter, adapted by Pascal Légitimus for French audiences, took him to the Bataclan in Paris in 2001, the same year he won two prix Olivier, for stage performance of the year and most popular show of the year. Rousseau - One Man Show later ran for five nights at the Olympia de Paris, Les Confessions de Rousseau was broken in at the Cabaret Juste pour Rire before a Paris run at Le Palace, and Stéphane Rousseau brise la glace came after that.

From 2002 he co-hosted the Festival Juste pour rire with Franck Dubosc. Acting has run alongside the stage work: he played Sébastien in Les Invasions barbares by Denys Arcand, which brought him a best supporting actor prize at the Toronto festival, Billy Flint in the French production of the musical Chicago at the Casino de Paris, and Sam Cohen in Omertà by Luc Dionne. On Quebec television he hosted the late-night talk show Le Show de Rousseau on V in 2018 and played Éric in the daily series STAT.
