About Franck Dubosc

Franck Dubosc, born on 7 November 1963 in Le Petit-Quevilly, is a French humorist, actor, screenwriter and filmmaker. He grew up in Normandy, at Grand-Quevilly, where he studied at the college Claude-Bernard and then at the lycee Val-de-Seine. After his baccalaureat he began English studies which he left after three months to enter the conservatoire de Rouen, where he met Valerie Lemercier, Virginie Lemoine, Hugues Protat and Karin Viard.

In 1994, while frequenting the Cafe du Tresor in the Marais in Paris, the owners introduced Wednesday evening stand-up sessions, and Franck Dubosc soon performed there with his character of a mythomaniac adventurer. His meeting with Elie Semoun marked a turning point: in 1995 Les Petites Annonces d'Elie were born from their collaboration, with Franck Dubosc as co-author. In 1998 he presented Du beau, du bon, Dubosc, his first one-man-show at the theatre de Dix-Heures, before moving to larger venues with later shows. He managed to break through in cinema in 2006 in the lead role of the popular comedy Camping by Fabien Onteniente, in which he played Patrick Chirac, and he confirmed this with other comedies by Fabien Onteniente: Disco (2008), Camping 2 (2010) and Camping 3 (2016).

He also became a frequent collaborator of the director Eric Lavaine with Incognito (2009), Bienvenue a bord (2011), Barbecue (2014) and Les Beaux Malaises (2016). In 2018 he directed his first film, Tout le monde debout, which achieved a certain critical and commercial success. His third film as director, Un ours dans le Jura, received a positive reception from critics and the public, and earned him the meilleur scenario original at the Cesar in 2026. His father, Lucien Dubosc, died of Charcot's disease.
