About Paul Taylor

Paul Taylor (born 11 October 1986 in Chelmsford, England) is an English comedian who moved to Paris in 2009 and started doing stand-up comedy in 2013. He is known in France for his TV series on Canal+ - What the Fuck France?, What's Up France? and Stereotrip - but he got his onstage breakthrough with his show #Franglais (2016-2019). His father is English and his mother is Irish, and because he grew up partly in France until the age of nine, he speaks French with no discernible foreign accent.

Taylor studied languages at university in London and is fluent in English, French and Spanish. After his studies he got a job at Apple and became a trainer for Apple employees abroad before moving to Paris at the age of 23 to pursue comedy. He became known to a larger audience through the online video La Bise, which mocked the French tradition of cheek-kissing greetings, was uploaded on 1 January 2016 and gained more than three million views. Following its success, Canal+ contacted him to develop the three-minute short comedy show What the Fuck France?, which debuted in September 2016 and ran for 34 episodes.

Taylor defines himself primarily as a stand-up comedian. His first show, #Franglais, performed 50% in French and 50% in English, toured France, Europe and Canada for almost three years, with its final three shows at the Casino de Paris in front of 1,400 spectators. His second show So British (ou presque) ran from 2019 to June 2022, and his third show Bisoubye x ran from January 2023 to January 2024, concluding at the Zenith in Paris. His influences include Lee Evans, Ricky Gervais and Louis C.K. He married his wife Adeline on 3 June 2017, and their daughter Louise was born in 2019.
