About Francesco De Carlo
Francesco De Carlo is an Italian stand-up comedian, radio host and TV writer from Rome and the first Italian comic to build an international career performing stand-up in English. A former political scientist and press officer at the European Parliament, he later became one of the most internationally touring Italian comedians, with a Netflix special and regular slots at the Comedy Cellar in New York.
De Carlo built his early career as a host on Rome's Radio Globo and as a TV writer alongside Sabina Guzzanti, Neri Marcore and Trio Medusa. He made his Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2014 and toured with the Comedy Sans Frontieres project alongside Eddie Izzard and Dylan Moran. His hour-long Netflix special Cose di questo mondo, filmed in Milan and directed by Francesco Imperato, was released in 2019 and made him the second Italian stand-up on the platform, available in 190 countries. He has performed in 17 countries, headlined two sold-out London runs in 2017 and 2019, and is a regular at the Comedy Cellar in New York. In 2025 his Italian-language Mortacci Tour sold out theatres across Italy with over 50 dates and almost 40,000 spectators in the first half of the year, and he launched his first US tour Live in America.
Francesco De Carlo is currently touring with Mortacci across Italian theatres and with Live in America at US comedy clubs including the New York Comedy Club, Helium Comedy Club Philadelphia, Portland and Buffalo, and Emerald City Comedy.
