About Christian Hirdes

Christian Hirdes (born 24 March 1974 in Mülheim an der Ruhr) is a German Kabarettist and comedian. He lives in Bochum. Hirdes studied German and English studies at the Ruhr-Universität in Bochum and already performed with his own texts at various events during his studies.

The content of his stage appearances consists of personal experiences, the eternal battle of man against woman and general social themes, sometimes as spoken text and often as a song, accompanied by himself on guitar or piano. He also gives known songs new lyrics, including in his piece No woman in Kray, in which, to the melody of No Woman, No Cry and textually resembling Ich liebte ein Mädchen aus Pankow by Insterburg & Co., he lists various love affairs from different districts of Essen ("Adele aus Steele"), while pointing out in the refrain that to his great regret he has never had a partner from the district of Kray. He also reworked Girls & Boys by Blur into an amusing depiction of the wandering of a long-distance lorry driver between Neuss and Moers.

Christian Hirdes is a fan of VfL Bochum. In 2006 he received the Prix Pantheon, the audience prize Beklatscht & Ausgebuht, and in 2005 the Tegtmeiers Erben audience prize.
