Chris Verlaan

Chris Verlaan is a Dutch stand-up comedian and cabaretier from Almere who works by day as a data analyst at the GGD and by night builds one of the most distinctive new voices in Dutch cabaret. He openly addresses his autism diagnosis on stage. His debut program convincingly won both the jury prize and audience prize at the 2018 Cameretten Festival.

Chris Verlaan broke through with his debut program Man in de Maak, which won both the jury and audience awards at the Cameretten Festival 2018. The show combined cynical songs with funny stories, including the song Asperger that addresses his autism. His second program De Kringloper invites audiences into the quiet world of the thrift store, mixing solo dating, valerian, and being bullied. His latest production Ach, er komen geen kindjes van premiered on January 31, 2026. The Cameretten jury described his work as having great joke density, clever ideas and a signature style influenced by Kees Torn and Hans Dorrestijn.
