About İdil Nuna Baydar

İdil Nuna Baydar (born 30 April 1975 in Celle) is a German Kabarettistin and actress. Her art figures, the Berlinerin Gerda Grischke and Jilet Ayşe, an 18-year-old Kreuzberg Turkish woman, became known through YouTube. Baydar's parents are Turkish immigrants who separated shortly after her birth. She grew up with her single mother in Celle and attended a Waldorfschule in Benefeld, which she left when she moved to Berlin at the age of 16. Ten years later she completed her Abitur. Today she lives as an actress in Berlin-Kreuzberg and also works there for youth facilities.

Baydar's YouTube channel, on which she has presented self-written and self-performed pieces on the theme of integration since 2011, made her known beyond the region. On television she appeared in Kabarett and comedy shows such as StandUpMigranten, NightWash, Pufpaffs Happy Hour, Die Anstalt and Ladies Night. In 2015 she had a permanent role in the RTL television series Block B - Unter Arrest, and from 2012 to 2014 she was on air as Jilet Ayşe with the show Isch schwöre ... on Bild.de. Her Kabarett solo programme Deutschland, wir müssen reden! premiered in Berlin in 2014. Since 2019 she had a podcast called "IIS" with her colleague Ingmar Stadelmann, whose end was announced on 6 October 2023.

At the beginning of 2019 Baydar received death threats in reaction to her statements on the subject of racism and discrimination of migrants, sent by SMS and signed "Obersturmbandführer". After it became known that she was to give the central speech on 17 November 2019 at the rally commemorating the racist arson attack of Mölln 1992, she received further death threats, some signed with NSU 2.0, after personal data about her had been accessed from Hessian police computers. Her awards include the Hauptstadtpreis für Integration und Toleranz, Sonderpreis (2015) and the Goldener Stuttgarter Besen (2016).
