Johann König

Johann König is a German stand-up comedian born on 21 June 1972 in Soest, North Rhine-Westphalia. He has been performing stand-up comedy since 1997, when he made his public debut at an open-mic night in Cologne. Known for sharp observational humor and absurdist storytelling rooted in everyday family life, König has built a steady following across German-speaking countries through both live touring and regular television appearances.

Johann König launched his comedy career in 1997 and has released multiple live recordings and DVDs over the years, including Eskaliert (2007), Der Königsweg - Triumph der Langeweile (2010), Feuer im Haus ist teuer, geh raus! (2015), and Familie macht glücklich (2023). He is a frequent guest on the long-running ARD program Nuhr im Ersten, one of Germany's most-watched comedy television formats. His stand-up style centers on exaggerated, self-deprecating storytelling, absurd escalations of mundane situations, and ironic observations about family, relationships, and everyday German life. He also toured a reading show based on his 2023 book of the same name as Familie macht glücklich. His current touring program is Wer Pläne macht, wird ausgelacht (running 2023-2026), with a new program Heute ein König in preparation for 2027.
