Sven Bensmann

Sven Bensmann is a German stand-up comedian, musician, and entertainer born on December 18, 1992, in Osnabrueck and raised in Hagen am Teutoburger Wald. The son of two teachers, he grew up with music in the house and joined a school music ensemble as a teenager, an experience he later credits as the spark for his stage career. In 2013 he began a teaching-degree program in History and English at Osnabrueck University, but stand-up quickly took over. Bensmann is now best known for combining classic stand-up with handmade live music, often switching mid-set from spoken jokes into sung punchlines or vocal impressions of singers like Joe Cocker, Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, and Herbert Groenemeyer.

Sven Bensmann first took the stage as a comedian in 2014, entering the Quatsch Comedy Club Talentschmiede in Cologne, where he won three preliminary rounds and reached the 2015 final. From there he moved into the most prominent German stand-up circuits, including NightWash and 1Live Hoersaal Comedy. From 2017 to 2022 Bensmann served as sidekick on the NightWash TV show, first alongside Tahnee and later with Simon Staeblein. In September 2018 he won the Hamburger Comedy Slam, and in 2019 he took the Bremer Comedy Preis in the newcomer category. His first solo program, Comedy. Musik. Liebe., premiered in October 2018 and toured German and Swiss comedy stages. The second program, Yes We Sven, launched in autumn 2021. His current touring show, SVENOMENAL, premiered in October 2024 at Schmidts Tivoli in Hamburg and continues to play larger venues across Germany. Outside comedy he is the singer and lyricist of indie-punk band Hi! Spencer, whose song Richtung Norden has more than one million streams on Spotify. He is a fixed ensemble member of both NightWash and the Quatsch Comedy Club.

Sven Bensmann is touring extensively with SVENOMENAL through 2026 and into 2027, with dates across Germany including residencies at Schmidts Tivoli in Hamburg. Tickets are sold through Eventim, Reservix, Koelnticket, and Ticketmaster Germany. He continues to appear in mix shows like the Quatsch Comedy Club in Cologne, Hamburg, and Berlin and remains a regular at NightWash dates. Tour dates and tickets are listed on sven-bensmann.de.
