Vera Deckers

Vera Deckers is a German comedienne, stand-up artist, keynote speaker and certified coach based in the Rhineland. A native of the Cologne area who grew up near Bonn, she is a rare double talent who combines an academic background in psychology with a full-time stage career. Active as a professional stand-up performer since 2004, she is best known to German audiences from her recurring appearances at the Quatsch Comedy Club, WDR's Ladies Night, NightWash, TV Total and Ottis Schlachthof. Her stage persona, sharp and analytical but warm, draws on her diploma in psychology to dissect the everyday miscommunications between men and women, employees and bosses, and partners trying to talk past each other. She tours German cabaret stages with her own solo programs and additionally works as a corporate keynote speaker, bridging the worlds of comedy and behavioural science.

Deckers showed her comedic instincts early, performing in school theatre and writing her first satirical piece while still a teenager, which was broadcast on the WDR radio show "Unterhaltung am Wochenende" with Gaby Koester and Kalle Pohl. After her Abitur she studied psychology and completed her diploma in 2001. She made her debut at the Quatsch Comedy Club in 2002 and has been a regular booking at all Quatsch Comedy Club houses ever since, as well as on the TV version of the show. Since 2004 she has toured Germany with her own evening-length solo programs, playing established cabaret venues such as the Mainz Unterhaus, the Berlin Kabarett-Theater Die Wuehlmaeuse, the Cologne Senftoepfchen and many regional Kleinkunst stages. Her recent and current touring program is "Probleme sind auch keine Loesung", a psychological cabaret evening on why we cling to our own problems. From 2015 onward she also developed her lecture programme "Maenner fuehren, Frauen denken", with which she brought her cabaret style into corporate keynote settings. On television she appears regularly on WDR Ladies Night and in Quatsch Comedy Club productions, and has guested on NightWash, TV Total and Ottis Schlachthof. She is represented by the agencies moma artists and 5 Sterne Redner.

Vera Deckers tours German-speaking cabaret stages year-round, alternating between her solo programs and Quatsch Comedy Club ensemble nights. Current tour dates are listed on her official website vera-deckers.de under "Termine", and tickets are sold via adticket.de and venue box offices. She is a regular guest at the Quatsch Comedy Club houses in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Stuttgart, and at WDR Ladies Night recordings in Cologne. For corporate audiences she is bookable as a keynote speaker through moma artists and 5 Sterne Redner.
