Holger Ebert

Vince Ebert (born 23 May 1968), born Holger Ebert, is a German comedian, lecturer, presenter, author, and holder of a degree in physics. He grew up in Amorbach in Lower Franconia, Bavaria, and his classmates gave him the name "Vince" when he was 14 because he was a fan of Vince Weber. After military service, he studied physics at Julius Maximilian University in Wuerzburg from 1988 to 1994, majoring in experimental solid state physics and minoring in astronomy, earning his degree in 1994.

Ebert worked as a consultant at the management consultancy Ogilvy & Mather Dataconsult in Frankfurt from 1995 to 1997, discovering his talent for satirical revue while giving PowerPoint presentations, and later worked as a strategic planner for the advertising agency Publicis. He made his first appearances as a comedian in 1998 and presented his first solo set, Die jetzt aber wirklich grosse Show, in 2001. Under the direction of Eckart von Hirschhausen, he created his first science satire programme, Urknaller - Physik ist sexy, which premiered in 2004. His later solo programmes include Denken lohnt sich (2007-2010), Evolution (2013-2016), and Zukunft is the Future (from 2016), plus the English-language show Sexy Science performed at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Ebert has hosted the show Wissen vor acht - Werkstatt on ARD since 2011, explaining physics concepts in under three minutes, and appears on television programmes such as Mitternachtsspitzen and TV total. He is also a published author, with books including Denken Sie selbst! (2008) and Bleiben Sie neugierig (2013).
