Avi Nussbaum

Avi Nussbaum started out with amateur sets at the Camel Comedy Club and broke through in 2004 on the reality competition The Laughter Academy, shown on Channel 2 and Bip. Television work followed quickly. In 2005 he co-hosted Makat Medina and joined the writing team of the satirical programme Eretz Nehederet, in 2007 he sat on the regular panel of Limited Edition on Bip, and in 2010 he hosted Shabbat Tzhok and co-presented Nir'e Otcha with Shai Goldstein on Channel 2.

From 2011 he co-hosted the programme Tziporei Layla Menabot on Army Radio with David Lipshitz. Writing is the other half of his output: in 2013 he self-published a book built from his Facebook statuses, in 2014 he wrote a column for the weekend supplement of Israel Hayom, and he is the author of the play Mashkanta, staged at the Habima Theatre. His stand-up takes its material from personal life, relationships, parenting and Israeli politics.
