Barko Zaro

Barko Zaro is an Israeli stand-up comedian born in Ethiopia who immigrated to Israel at the age of eight. He was raised in Rosh HaAyin by a single mother alongside three older sisters, after the family passed through an absorption center in Tiberias and a caravan site near Elad. He later served in the Israeli Border Police and studied communications, with a focus on marketing and advertising, at Ariel University, and today works part time for the Rosh HaAyin municipality as head of its community department. His stand-up draws heavily on his personal experience as an Ethiopian Israeli, addressing racism and other social issues alongside relationships and fatherhood. He is a resident comedian at Camel Comedy Club and Stand Up Factory and has appeared on the Kan 11 channel and the sketch show The Jews Are Coming. He is married to Mali and has a daughter, Hodaya.
