Yonatan Barak

Yonatan Barak found his feet at the open mic nights of the Camel Comedy Club, and television noticed him quickly. In 2006 he joined Yair Lapid's programme as its current affairs commentator, doing a stand-up take on the week's news, and from there he went on to write for a string of shows, The Night with Lior Shlein among them. He also appeared on After All, the late-night programme of Tal Berman.

Acting runs alongside the writing. He played in the drama Custody, directed by Irit Linor, and in the telenovela Exposed, and in Avi Nesher's film Image of Victory he took the role of Abba Kovner. For the channel Yes he was head writer of the local version of the animated series Celebs, voicing several of its characters.

Online, his long stand-up sets built on stories from his own life have gone up on YouTube since 2016, and with Tal Solomon he started The Junta, a channel for comic music videos. He edits video and directs clips, and he is behind Wrestling Israel, an entertainment wrestling show.
