About Chumel Torres
Chumel Torres trained as a mechanical engineer and managed projects at a medical equipment plant in Chihuahua before any of this was a job. Attention around a political post during the 2012 elections led to writing for blogs and newspapers, and in 2013 he started El Pulso de la Republica on YouTube, a run through Mexican politics told as jokes.
The format then moved to television as Chumel con Chumel Torres on HBO. He keeps parallel work in print and audio: the books La Historia de la Republica and Mexico, Manual del Usuario, and the radio version of the show, La radio de la Republica on Radio Formula.
