Alexander Ploeg

Alex Ploeg (born 1985 in Leiden) is a Dutch cabaretier, stand-up comedian and actor. Raised in Haren near Groningen, he began stand-up after dropping a philosophy degree and rose through the festival circuit. A Comedytrain member, he was named Comedy Talent of 2018 by Volkskrant and ranked by NRC among the most promising Dutch cabaretiers of the decade.

Ploeg made his name on the festival circuit, winning the Amsterdam Student Cabaret Festival in 2011, the Griffioen Zuidplein Cabaret Festival in 2012 and the audience award at Cameretten in 2016. His debut solo theater program 'Ultimatum' premiered in October 2018 and was nominated for the Neerlands Hoop, awarded annually to the most promising Dutch theater maker. His second program 'EGO' premiered in 2021 to positive reviews, followed by 'Unplugged' in 2024 as his third solo show. Together with fellow Comedytrain members Tex de Wit and Stefan Pop, Ploeg co-created the satirical sketch program 'Klikbeet' on NPO 3 in 2016. He has appeared on Dutch TV programs including 'Zondag met Lubach', 'Dit Was Het Nieuws', 'Foute Vrienden', 'De Grote Improvisatieshow' and 'Spaanders'.
