Henry van Loon

Henry van Loon (born April 8, 1982, in Oirschot) is a Dutch stand-up comedian, cabaret artist, and actor. After moving to Amsterdam in 2001 to study at the Kleinkunstacademie, he joined Comedytrain in 2004 and has since become one of the most distinctive theater performers of his generation, blending stand-up with absurd character work and a touch of dry, almost clown-like physicality.

His first solo theater show, De Henry van Loon Entertainment Show, premiered in spring 2011, followed by Electropis (2012-2013), Sluimer (2014-2015), and Onze Henry (2018), which dealt openly with the death of his mother in 2017. He is currently touring with his seventh program, Keanu. Van Loon broke through to a national TV audience as janitor Volkert in the hit comedy series De Luizenmoeder (2018-2019), playing the role with deadpan calm against the chaos of the school setting. On stage he is known for letting bits drift into long absurd tangents and for character voices and tics that recur across shows. He performs regularly at Comedytrain and the Utrecht International Comedy Festival, and his Comedytrain sets have been a training ground for Dutch club comedy since 2004.

Henry van Loon is currently on tour with his seventh cabaret program, Keanu, playing Dutch theaters from major venues such as Theater aan de Parade in Den Bosch to regional stages like Theater Lampegiet, Theater Geert Teis, and De Tamboer.
