About Karin Bloemen
Karin Bloemen is a Dutch actress and singer known for her roles in Dutch films and television. Since 1983 she has worked as a singer and cabaret artist, recognised for an extroverted, attention-grabbing stage presence alongside a more subdued and sensitive side.
She studied at the Academy of Arts in Amsterdam, graduating in 1984, and won the Pisuisse Prize for the academy's best student theatre performance as well as the Pall Mall Export Prize for the promotion of young artists. In 1984 she recorded the anti-apartheid song Zuid-Afrika, written by Jeroen van Merwijk, and performed it for Nelson Mandela in 1994. Within six years of graduating she staged her first theatre show, Bosje Bloemen, the start of a long run of solo productions that included La Flowers, The Diva and the Divan, and a 25 year jubilee show.
