On 11 March 2021 Koning caused much commotion with a performance on the talk show Jinek due to a roast directed at Forum voor Democratie politician Thierry Baudet, who according to certain viewers and opinion makers was attacked personally. Koning later stated that he wanted to hold up a mirror to Baudet. Baudet walked out of the programme during this performance. RTL afterwards stated that it distanced itself from Koning's statements and Eva Jinek offered her apologies to Baudet. Koning also received support, including from Sander Schimmelpenninck and Paul Haenen.
