Pieter Verelst

Pieter Verelst is a Flemish-Dutch stand-up comedian and cabaretier born in 1990 in Belgium, active on stage since around 2014 and performing across the Netherlands and Flanders. He broke through by winning the 51st Cameretten Festival in 2016 with his show Mijn broer en ik, and is recognised for absurdist, surreal cabaret with a strong theatrical streak.

Verelst won the jury prize of the Cameretten Festival in 2016 at the Luxor Theater in Rotterdam, beating finalists Alex Ploeg and Victor Luis van Es with his debut Mijn broer en ik. He followed up with the theatre programme Altijd Aan, a recognisable show about ADHD, restlessness and the desire to live fully, which toured Dutch and Belgian theatres including Diligentia en PePijn, Theater aan het Vrijthof, Theater Walhalla and Meervaart. Critics describe him as one of the most talented Flemish cabaret performers of his generation, blending fantasy, mimicry and high-tempo theatrical bravura.

Pieter Verelst regularly tours theatres in the Netherlands and Belgium with Altijd Aan and successor cabaret programmes, performing in venues such as De Kleine Komedie, Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht and Theater Walhalla in Rotterdam.
