Tex de Wit

Tex de Wit (born May 17, 1986, in Amsterdam) is a Dutch comedian, writer, actor, chess player, and television presenter. He is the son of comic artist Peter de Wit, and in 2011, after studying journalism at the University of Amsterdam, he discovered that stand-up comedy was his passion.

De Wit was featured in episodes of De Rijdende Rechter in 2012, and in 2013 he auditioned for Comedytrain, for which he was immediately recruited. He has made columns for the VARA-radio program Spijkers met koppen, and in 2014 was added to the writers team of the VPRO program Zondag met Lubach, later appearing on camera as a "news reporter" from season 4. From 2022 until 2024 he fulfilled the same roles for De Avondshow met Arjen Lubach, and since 2025 he does the same for LUBACH. In the winter of 2015 he participated in the NCRV program De Slimste Mens, reaching the finale, and from 2019 he has been a frequent guest at De Wereld Draait Door. In 2019, 2020, and 2024 he presented the satirical sports program Makkelijk Scoren for VPRO together with Jonathan van het Reve and Diederik Smit.

De Wit is also an accomplished chess player. In 2010, he obtained the FIDE Master (FM) title. In 2011 he won the Wil Haggenburg tournament and became the best chess player at the Chess federation Groot-Amsterdam, and in 2012 he won the Kees Besselink c4 tournament, for which he only signed up the night before. Since the 2019-2020 season he plays in the Masterclass for the Kennemer Combinatie.
