Albert Boira

Albert Boira Buisán is a Spanish stand-up comedian born in Barcelona in 1961. He did not pursue comedy professionally until he was forty, after encountering the television show El Club de la Comedia (“The Comedy Club”). He recorded his first monologue for the Paramount Comedy strand Central de Cómicos (“Comedians Central”) in 2006 and became one of the more recognisable faces of Comedy Central Spain, with stand-up credits including the special Bien Follado, El Mundo Duele Menos (“Well Fucked, the World Hurts Less”). In 2008, he performed in La cocina de los monólogos 2 (“The Kitchen of Monologues 2”) with Belén Rubio and Iñaki Urrutia.

He opened Spain's first LGTB focused stand-up club, LGTB Comedy Jam, held on Monday nights at the El Intruso venue in Madrid's Chueca district, mixing monologues, improvisation, live music and short films for an audience spanning gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans and straight comedy fans. With fellow comedian Libertad Montero he presented Spain's first LGTBI monologue competition, and together with comedians Archie Bezos and Elsa Ruiz he helped create the stand-up label Humor de Transmisión Sexual (“Sexually Transmitted Humor”). He performed his solo material in theatres and comedy clubs around Spain.
