Anne Kansiime Kubiryaba

Anne Kansiime, born Anne Kansiime Kubiryaba on 13 April 1986, is a Ugandan entertainer, comedian, and actress. She has been referred to as "Africa's Queen of Comedy" by some African media outlets. She was born in Mparo in present-day Rukiga District, in the Western Region of Uganda, attended Kabale Primary School, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Makerere University.

Beginning in 2007, while still an undergraduate at Makerere University, Kansiime participated in drama skits with the theatre group Theatre Factory at the Uganda National Theatre in Kampala. When Theatre Factory disintegrated, she joined Fun Factory, whose best skits were broadcast on NTV Uganda. Around 2014 she began posting her sketch comedy on YouTube, and her screen breakthrough came when Citizen TV from neighbouring Kenya offered her a weekly comedy show, leading her to create Don't Mess With Kansiime. By November 2014 her YouTube channel had amassed more than 15 million views.

Kansiime has continued performing and touring as a stand-up comedian, with her comedy style focusing on aspects of her personal life. She has played to packed houses in cities including Blantyre, Gaborone, Kigali, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, Lilongwe, London, Lusaka and Harare. Her many awards include the African Entertainment Awards USA Best Comedian's Award (2015), the Comedy YouTube Sub-Saharan Africa Creator Award (2016), and a YouTube silver play button (2015). Through The Kansiime Foundation she supports needy but bright children, and she also runs Kansiime Backpackers on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi.
