About Joel Creasey

Joel Creasey (born 11 August 1990) is an Australian stand-up comedian, actor, television and radio presenter. Born in the Sydney suburb of Baulkham Hills, he moved to Perth at a young age; his father Terry worked as a model and his mother Jenny was a singer, the couple having met as extras on the set of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Openly gay, Creasey came out to his family and friends in 2007 at the age of sixteen. He attended Wesley College, where he founded the student newspaper The Wesley Inquirer and was drama captain, before briefly studying political science and foreign affairs at Curtin University.

Creasey first attempted stand-up at fifteen and reached the state finals of the national competition Raw Comedy at seventeen. He made his Melbourne International Comedy Festival debut in 2010 with Slumber Party, earning a Best Newcomer nomination, and followed with Political Animal (2011), Naked, and The Drama Captain (2013), the latter selling out 23 consecutive shows in Melbourne. His 2014 show Rock God earned him the nickname "Australia's Acid Tongue Prince" and toured internationally; Joan Rivers, upon seeing his act, booked him to open for her in New York in August 2014. The New York Post named Rock God one of the top five events of the New York Fringe Festival.

Creasey has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe (2015) and the New York International Fringe Festival (2013 and 2014), hosted the 2015 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, and served as a Fringe Ambassador for the Adelaide Fringe in 2018, where he presented Blonde Bombshell. His 2018 Just for Laughs set featured as part of a Netflix stand-up series in 2019. His television panel credits include The Project, 20 to 1, Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation, Have You Been Paying Attention? and Hughesy, We Have a Problem.
