Paul Pizzera
About Paul Pizzera
Paul Pizzera, born in Deutschlandsberg in Styria, started out on the Austrian Kabarett stage with solo work. His first programme, Zu wahr, um schön zu sein, was followed by Sex, Drugs & Klei'n'Kunst, and in 2011 he won the Grazer Kleinkunstvogel at the Theatercafé Graz.
The partnership with Otto Jaus moved him into the charts. As Pizzera & Jaus the two write songs that sit between pop concert and cabaret evening; their first joint album, Unerhört solide, went to the top of the Austrian music charts, and in 2016 the single Jedermann became a number-one hit in Austria. Their third album carried the title Comedian Rhapsody. Pizzera also sings in the trio Aut of Orda.
Books and screen roles run alongside the music. He made his literary debut in 2020 with Der Hippokratische Neid, and König der Möwen appeared in 2023 as the second volume of the series. He acted in the crime comedy Pulled Pork and voiced Bart Simpson in some episodes of The Simpsons broadcast in Austria.
