Wolfgang Feistritzer

Wolfgang Feistritzer performs in Carinthian dialect, and that is half the act: Petutschnig Hons is a farmer who says exactly what he thinks in a language many Austrians outside Carinthia need a moment to decode. The figure first appeared in his stage programmes in 2006, and from 2013 he built it into a brand of its own through short internet videos.

He reached the stage from a working life well outside show business, qualifying in alpine agriculture and forestry and earning his living as a surveying technician while keeping a farm. Amateur theatre in 2000 led to cabaret work the following year, first in programmes made with a partner and then alone. The audience prize of the Austrian Cabaret Prize went to him in 2014, and he has since extended the character into recorded songs, film roles and a weekly podcast in which Hons works through the news.
