About Mario Barth
Mario Wolfgang Barth (born 1 November 1972 in Berlin) is a German comedian who mainly deals with the interactions between men and women. One of six children, he was raised Catholic and served as an altar boy, completed an apprenticeship as a telecommunications electrician at Siemens in Berlin, and in 1995 began studying to become an actor. He gained experience performing on TV shows such as NightWash and Quatsch Comedy Club.
Since 2001, Barth has toured with his stage show Männer sind Schweine, Frauen aber auch! ("Men are pigs, but women are too"), achieving his comedy breakthrough in 2003. In 2004 he published a "dictionary for men to understand women" called Deutsch-Frau, Frau-Deutsch, which has sold two million copies and was released internationally in countries including South Korea, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Japan and Poland. His 2005 live DVD reached number 3 on the German Album Charts and achieved platinum status, and his program Männer sind primitiv, aber glücklich! received the German Comedy Award in 2006.
On 12 July 2008, Barth set a world record in the category "live comedy with the largest audience", performing for 70,000 people at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, breaking the previous record held by Chris Rock. In 2014 he extended his own record to an audience of 116,498. In 2009 he produced his first film, the comedy Männersache, and since that year he has hosted the comedy show Willkommen bei Mario Barth on RTL. He has been recognized with the Bavarian TV Awards and lives in both Berlin and Düsseldorf.
