About Marlon Kicken
Marlon Kicken is a Dutch cabaret performer, stand-up comedian, tonprater (carnival speaker) and presenter, born on September 12, 1973, in Willemstad, Curacao. Adopted as a child, he grew up in Aarle-Rixtel in North Brabant, and his Curacaoan roots, long dreadlocks and softly-pronounced Brabant 'g' make him an instantly recognizable figure on the Dutch cabaret scene. He works in a relaxed, anecdotal style with strong improvisational skills and a healthy dose of self-mockery.
Marlon Kicken broke through nationally in 2009 when he won both the jury and audience prizes of the Culture Comedy Award, the major prize for emerging comedy talent in the Netherlands and Flanders. In 2014 he premiered his first full-length theater show 'Nee Gij!', followed by 'BaKo' and 'In de lift', and in the 2020 to 2021 season his fourth solo show 'Draadloos'. His next program 'Getekend' premiered in 2023 and continued touring across the 2023 to 2025 seasons. He developed his career from tonprater on the Brabant carnival circuit toward stand-up comedy and full theatrical cabaret. During the COVID pandemic Kicken fell critically ill, ended up in a coma, and fought through an intense battle with the virus before returning to the stage. He also performs custom comedy for events and participated in the Dutch television talent show Maestro.
Marlon Kicken tours Dutch theaters with his current program 'Getekend', performing at venues including Parktheater Eindhoven, Hofnar and other mid-size and large Dutch theaters. Tour dates are announced on his official website and at klicket.nl and theater.nl. He is also bookable for corporate events and custom comedy.
